Aqib Javed, a member of the Men’s National Selection Committee:
“ Choosing the squad exclusively for the next tests against England was a difficult task for the selectors. However, we had attentively considered the current player performance and form, the need to come back in the Pak vs England series, and Pakistan’s 2024-2025 international schedule. With these situations in mind and also it the good interest of Pakistan cricket and the players, we have announced the rest of Babar Azam, Naseem Shah, Sarfaraz Ahmad and Shaheen Shah Afridi.
We are sure that this break will be good for the players to come back with new zeal and fitness, more confidence and bring positive results to their performances. They are among the greatest talents, and they have made many more contributions to Pakistan Cricket. We completely support them in their downtime so they come back even stronger.
On the other hand, we are giving opportunities to our untapped players, Haseebullah, Mohammad Ali, and Kamran Ghulam, to showcase their emerging talents against the strongest team ever in England. Hopefully, they will entertain us and return the lost momentum with their true sportsmanship in the remaining two tests.
However, Mehran Mumtaz and Haseebullah were part of the Pakistan Shaheens squad in the ACC Men’s T20 emerging teams Asia Cup and were replaced by Rohail Nazir and Maaz Sadaqat. The Tournament will be played on 18 October in Oman. Keep in touch with us. We will also cover this upcoming event.
