The Australian cricket team has announced the squad against Pakistan for the upcoming ODI series, which will be held in Australia. Pat Cummins is back to lead the Australian cricket team against Pakistan, while Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh skipped for paternity leave as they are not considered in the squad. The ODI series will start on 4 Nov 2024 and run until 10 Nov 2024. This is the first Pat Cummins serving as captain after lifting the Men’s Cricket World Cup trophy in 2023.
Pat Cummins was not on the squad and was rested, preparing for the upcoming test series against India before two skips, Head and Marsh. However, Cummins missed the white ball series of Scotland and England. Mitchell Marsh was the captain who led the recent white-ball tour of England and will miss the ODI series against Pak.
A great opportunity is available for the opener as Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh leave for paternity while the opener, David Warner, is now retired from ODI. The door is opened for Australian rising star cricketer Jake Fraser-McGurk t avail prove himself as a veteran opener for their team. Jake played against the West Indies series in Feb and also appeared in four T20 matches on a tour of the UK.
The 28-year-old batter Matt Short is also selected in the squad and ready to face the Pakistani team. Matt has recently played against the England series with a top scoring of 58 runs on 30 balls, and this higher run rate led them to victory. Cameron Green is not considered on the squad due to an injury (back fracture), so he will not remain part of the team until summer ends. Marcus Stoinis has been added and recalled for the squad against Pakistan. Wicketkeeper Josh Inglis has been selected and is preferred over Alex Carey for the ODI format. Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell, and Marnus Labuschagne are also selected for this squad.
