All ten franchises of the Indian Premier League have submitted their retained players list today, on 31 Oct; this IPL 2025 retentions list is fully confirmed and finalized ahead of the mega IPL auction 2025. A special IPL retention event was live-streamed on Jio Cinema, and the IPL teams revealed the players list who have spots for the upcoming IPL season 2025. This event step-up and retention process is completed, and the mega IPL auction will occur on 24 and 25 Nov in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
IPL Retention Rules 2025
- IPL teams can keep up to six players using retention or a Right to Match (RTM) card.
- Each team can keep up to five capped players (either Indian or overseas) and up to two uncapped players.
- Uncapped players haven’t played international cricket or had a BCCI contract in the last five years.
- Teams can treat former Indian international players who haven’t played international cricket in five years as uncapped.
- Each team can have a minimum of 18 and a maximum of 25 players, with no more than 8 overseas players. Only 4 overseas players can play at once.
- Each team has ₹120 Crore to spend on players, but they must use at least 75% of it (₹75 Crore).
- If a team keeps six players, they won’t get any RTM cards for the auction.
- Teams must submit their list of kept players by October 31, 2024.
IPL 2025 Retentions List all Teams
Each franchise had reached a maximum of ₹120 crore for auction for the first time in IPL history as compared to last year when the purse was a total of ₹ 100 crore. Teams can retain a maximum of six players before the mega auction. The amount of ₹18 for the first player, ₹14 and ₹11 crores for the second and third players, and ₹18 and ₹14 crores for the fourth and fifth players, respectively.
